The opportunity Our Government & Public Sector Financial Accounting Advisory Services (GPS FAAS) team is growing exponentially, and as a Senior Manager you'll play a key role in that growth. Working across all Federal GPS sector service lines, you'll develop your career by communicating creative, strategic goals both internally and externally. It's all about listening to and understanding our clients to give them a truly exceptional experience in a field where there really are no off-the-shelf recommendations.
Your Key Responsibilities Every project is unique. As a SLED service line Senior Manager you'll actively pursue business development activities, identify opportunities, develop proposal responses, train staff, and execute engagement deliverables. You'll think on your feet, challenge existing practices, and develop answers to complex issues. Collaboration across multiple service lines is expected, building relationships to identify opportunities for clients to benefit from our knowledge in other areas. Regular travel will be required to meet with key clients, some of whom are the most respected in their fields.
Skills And Attributes For Success
Develop and maintain strong, productive working relationships with advisory client personnel, assess client satisfaction, and proactively maintain contact throughout the year.
Direct field work, inform supervisors of advisory engagement status, and manage assurance staff performance.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of complex governmental accounting (e.g., GASB), budgetary reporting and auditing concepts and apply them to client situations.
Develop people through effective delegation of audit tasks and providing guidance to assurance staff.
Provide performance feedback, training and performance reviews for assurance staff.
Contribute ideas/opinions to the assurance team and listen/respond to other team members' views.
Foster an efficient, innovative and team-oriented work environment.
Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with assurance team members and enhance service delivery.
Develop an understanding of EY's service lines and actively encourage team members to contribute ideas and identify opportunities to apply the firm's services.
To qualify for the role you must have
U.S. CPA license in your work state.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business discipline, supported by 10 years of post-college work experience in financial audit and advisory support to SLED clients in a fast-paced environment.
In-depth understanding of U.S. Governmental GAAP, GASB standards, Financial and Single Audit (Subpart F of the OMB Uniform Guidance) and OMB guidance.
Comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in the preparation and auditing of Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), Annual Financial Statements and Single Audit Report for SLED entities.
Proficiency in modified-accrual basis of reporting, grants management, and budgetary reporting.
Hands-on experience with business development in the SLED space and proficiency in deal governance and the proposal submission process (experience leading multiple proposals in the past year).
Experience with large regional or national not-for-profit clients is a plus.
Excellent project management, communication, negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to management.
A proven record of excellence when managing, mentoring and improving a high-performing team.
Dedication to teamwork and leadership, and integrity within a professional environment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance or higher.
Travel flexibility up to approximately 30% for federal practice and up to 80% for state, local and education practice.
Ideally you'll also have
CGFM and/or CDFM.

Comprehensive compensation and benefits package with a base salary range for U.S. locations of $146,700 to $335,100. For New York City metro area, Washington state and California (excluding Sacramento) the range is $176,000 to $380,800. Total Rewards include medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
Hybrid model: most external, client-serving roles work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
Flexible vacation policy: you decide how much vacation time you need. You'll also receive time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence.
