Job summary:

The Commercial Contracts Manager will be responsible for leading efforts associated with the contract life cycle management for sales and operational contracts. This includes reviewing, drafting, revising, and negotiating contracts, monitoring of contract performance and compliance, recommending improvements and innovations to the contract process, and ensuring contract accuracy. This role will work with Sales and Operations leaders to apply best practice methodologies to develop and implement contract strategies to support sales and operational processes. This role will work with internal and external customers to carefully obtain the requirements needed for each contract and prepare analysis for management review. Receives and prepares responses for contractual bids for client projects or overall client service agreements, including form agreements and non-standard agreements. Oversees operational contracts related to the sales process. Negotiates contracts and escalates complex legal and factual issues to corporate legal counsel and assists in resolution. Ensures compliance of all existing contracts, including research, statistical reporting, and analysis. Leads special contract-related projects as necessary. Other duties as assigned.

Education and experience requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college is essential. JD degree is a plus but not required. Should have 5+ years of experience in B2B sales operations experience with 2+ years of spent in a contract administration department. Should have significant experience in the sales contracting process.

Expectations and outcomes of this position:

Responsibilities for Contract Manager

  • Create, prepare, review, and edit all contracts related to client projects and master service agreements
  • Oversee operational contracting process in the clinical studies business, liaising with operational leaders who work with study subjects and others involved in clinical studies
  • Communicate and manage workflow of all contract stages.
  • Ensure the organization's internal contract documents are accurate and well maintained
  • Meet with customers to discuss both legal and business matters
  • Act as the initial point of contact for open, actively negotiated contracts.
  • Ensure the parties meet their contract obligations, taking appropriate actions to ensure plans are implemented to return to the required levels.
  • Liaise with Operations to ensure delivery of high standards in line with and beyond contractual service levels.
  • Ensure processes are in place to comply with customer agreement obligations, including compliance with any "flowed down" customer regulatory and code of conduct requirements
  • Provide advice and guidance to the different teams relating to contract generation and compliance
  • Prepare metrics on contract operations for reporting to management.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with clients
  • Knowledge of legal contracting principles.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes and devise plans to implement these changes

Qualifications for Contract Manager

  • Experience in life sciences, health care or similar regulated industries
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of legal terminology
  • Comfortable working as part of a multidimensional team
  • Possesses superior organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines
  • Accountable for building and maintaining a partnership with the key partners, developing strategies to enhance the relationship to encourage improved performance.
  • Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of common programs such as Microsoft Office, DocuSign, and other relevant technologies.
  • Previous experience working with contract regulations the related laws is strongly preferred
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, keyboards, computer mouse, telephones, photocopiers, projectors and file cabinets.

Travel requirements.

Occasional travel during the business day. Some out-of-the area and overnight travel may be expected. May be required to attend trade shows, seminars and conferences in addition to sales travel.

Physical requirements:

Must be able to stand/walk for 10% of the day and 90% of day able to sit at a desk or work on the computer. Must be able to occasionally lift a maximum of 50lbs.
