Description
Title: Electrical Engineer, Xray Detectors
Job Summary:
The Moxtek Inc., X-Ray Windows and Detectors Development team is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to lead the development of low-noise front end electronics for high-energy resolution semiconductor detectors and gas proportional counters. Working with a cross-disciplinary team, the Electrical Engineer will take designs from initial architecture definition all the way to production release. Along the way, they will be involved with design specification, schematics design, simulation, prototype parts procurement, assembly and test, and complete documentation. Their designs will consider all aspects of product quality: performance, robustness, manufacturability and serviceability, while remaining cost-efficient. Design work will include both new product development and sustaining engineering tasks.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborating with or leading a cross-functional team to assess internal and external customer requirements for end user applications, and translate them into hardware design specifications.
- Must have strong analog design knowledge and experience for development of low-noise detector electronics. Mixed-signal circuit design for low-power and low-noise applications, including discrete transistor preamplifiers, high-order active analog filters, and high-speed acquisition systems. Knowledge of digital signal processing.
- Circuit board layout design and prototype
- Lead/participate in designing, developing and executing verification, reliability, and performance tests.
- Provide engineering support for the transition of design to manufacturing. This may include generating assembly procedures, inspection plans, test fixture development, acceptance test procedures, and field troubleshooting procedures.
- Project management: scope, schedule, and budget definition, control, and resolution as an individual contributor.
Key Competencies:
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.
- Technical - Knowledge of X-ray detectors and signal processing path. Working knowledge of simulation tools, schematic design tools. Strong analog design knowledge with knowledge of digital signal processing a plus. Programming skills (C, C#, C++, LabView)
- Research - Willingness to learn new subjects, develop new skills under supervision of senior members, read and analyze research papers. Actively search out new developments in the industry and help build the product roadmap.
- Adaptability - Understand changes in work group tasks, situations, and the department as well as the logic or basis for change. Considers changes, production issues, and new situations as opportunities for learning or growth.
- Engineering Processes - Working knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various engineering departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology). Working knowledge of the interaction between departments/ disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-engineering processes (e.g., operations, logistics, business).
- Motivation - Self-starter able to function with minimal supervision. Actively coordinates with other team members to proactively identify and resolve manufacturing quality issues.
- Communication - Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree plus at least 3 years of work experience.
- Must have U.S. work authorization and not need sponsorship now or in the future.
